Dear Friends in Christ,
Greetings in the Name of our Lord.
The Rev. Dr. John Wohlrabe will be speaking at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Brookfield, Illinois on Sunday, June 10th at 7:00pm. His topic will be “Restoring Unity in the LCMS”. This is an excellent opportunity for convention delegates and other interested persons to become acquainted with one of the candidates for Synodical President. There will be ample time for questions and answers following Chaplain Wohlrabe’s presentation. After the Q and A session, refreshments will be served and those in attendance will have an opportunity to speak with him informally.
St. Paul’s is located at 9035 Grant Avenue in Brookfield, and is easily reached from either I-55 or I-290. Please do not hesitate to contact our church office (708-485-6987) for directions.
In Christ,
The Rev. Benjamin Ball, Pastor
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Brookfield, IL

“Servant Captains for the Good Ship Missouri” is now available here as a .pdf download. Thanks to Christian News for providing a copy of this booklet which they mailed to all 2007 delegates.
This 122 page booklet contains much of the information already available here – articles by Dr. Wohlrabe himself, as well as endorsements and testimonials from others.
Take note that the formatting of this file was made for a printed booklet, so when you read it online you need to alternate pages.

The following are suggestions from Dr. Wohlrabe on what course corrections are needed for the “good ship Missouri” (gleaned from “Navigating a Course…”)
1. Conserve and Promote Unity of Doctrine and Practice
2. Return to a Mission Emphasis That Is Congregationally Focused
3. Renew Emphasis on the Office of the Holy Ministry
4. Return to a Democratic Synodical Polity
Other suggestions:
- Focus more on ordained missionaries establishing new congregations; focus less on individual witnessing and contacts
- Less presidential appointments, more elections to key offices
- Trim synodical bureaucracy to better fund education and missions
- De-emphasize district/synodical offices:
- Impose term limits
- Cap salaries
- Require some ministerial connection to a congregation
